Heya cowboy!



Dolian Mara is the name my parents gave me. It’s inspired by a place in Türkiye where the rivers flow into an ocean. In my favorite language; portuguese, ‘Do Mar’ means ‘from the ocean’. There’s no better name for me.
‘All rivers eventually end up in the ocean’

Lewendig the name of my art practice. It’s inspired by the South African word for ‘alive’. But it contains so much more than that, which I believe you’ll feel through my arts..

While living around the globe, I collect stories that I translate into multidisciplinair arts. Through playful paintings and ceramics, enhanced by wordplay, jewellery, textiles and woodwork I explore inter alia; togetherness, joy, nakededness', sex(es), origin habitat, instinct, duality, raw authenticity and rituals. To learn and teach.

I know existence to be ‘as one’; nature, animals and human. - And draw my inspiration from living (in diverse environments), ‘There are so many wonderful stories to tell and so many different ways to do so’. My curiosity brings me in the most heartfelt situations and creates a wide range of outputs.

I am (a)life artist - a painter, ceramicist, writer, woodworker, jeweller, photographer, creative/art director, designer, illustrator, organizer, traveler, tarot reader, lover…

For me all these things are interconnected and fund each other. (Like I believe nature, animals and humans originate from). They grow from the same source of inspiration, from wholeness and translate into the ‘discipline’ that suits the part of the story best.

My work embodies joy and love, with an underlying idea of transformation and growth. ‘Causing vibrations to the soul, like the purring of a cheetah’.
